Point Mugu Central Revetment Repair Project

Larison Reyes Joint Venture (LRJV) is repairing approximately 2,100 feet of the central shoreline revetment at Naval Air Station Point Mugu under contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District. Notice to proceed was issued January 23, 2026, and the work is underway.

 

The scope includes removing and resetting existing armor stone and furnishing and placing approximately 35,000 tons of new 6–8 ton armor stone across three repair areas. Including the reset stone, approximately 50,000 tons of rock will be handled and placed in all. All work is performed from land on an exposed, wave-affected shoreline, within the security requirements of an active Navy installation and around protected nesting habitat for the western snowy plover, a federally threatened shorebird. Repairs to the lower slope require close coordination with tidal and wave conditions, with stone placement near the toe of the revetment scheduled around favorable low-water windows. Work is continuing through the 2026–27 winter during a strong El Niño, with daily weather and surf monitoring and work sequencing that keeps active areas protected ahead of storm events.

 

The revetment protects airfield and test-range infrastructure at Naval Base Ventura County from coastal erosion and storm damage.
